Upcoming Games

Sodium sits atop the U14 Premier Gold bracket but will have to fight to stay there. It is literally anyones ballgame at this point. Both Sodium and Rush play 2 games this weekend, one against each other, so whomever can bring their 'A' game will emerge on top.

The Matchups
Saturday
SSC Hotspur vs THUSC
SSC Hotspur has been running hot & cold as of late. If Sodium's defense can maintain SSC's exciting forward, Dani, then they have a good shot at victory. Let her run loose and it could turn into a long afternoon. THUSC's defense has been very strong and consistent all fall and into spring. Speaking of exciting forwards, Sodium will have Mac Kearney back in the lineup this weekend. Freshly released by her physical therapist Mac is chomping at the bit to get back on the field and mix it up. Immediately following an outstanding performance for the 96 ODP squad in Phoenix Mac injured her ankle in practice and missed the next three games. Glad to have the Mac attack ready for battle! THUSC 2-0.

USA HotShots vs OR Rush
I think this will prove to be one of the best matches this weekend. Both teams are physical and aggressive. This will be only the second time these teams have met since September when Rush took a 2-0 decision. HotShots are coming off a victory over FC Portland and Rush will be coming from a tie with ESUFC Arseanl. Very tough to call but I will go with Rush 1-0.

FC Portland vs LOSC Extreme
As much as I like FC and know they come on strong late in the season, I just don't think they currently have the firepower to hang with the 1-2 punch of Chloe and Bella for LOSC. I hope they prove me wrong but I have to go with my gut on this one. LOSC 2-0.

Sunday
THUSC vs OR Rush
This will be the match up to watch. When "The Beast from the East", the always dominating OR Rush rolls into town, you can always expect an epic battle. Sodium is looking forward to playing Rush on our turf. Health will be a factor as the Sodium squad still has a few players nursing injuries that will see limited action at best. But from what I have heard, Rush will be without one of their stars, Hadley, who...had...surgery? I haven't had a chance to get confirmation on anything yet so I can't really comment. All I know is Hadley has given the Sodium defense fits for many, many seasons and is a joy to watch as she brings fire to any game. It's always unfortunate when any athlete is injured. Hopes for a speedy recovery from Sodium! In my opinion Rush is one of the top teams in Oregon and it seems the last few time these two have met it has been a stalemate. If Sodiums defense can maintain there solid play and Mac can ignite the forwards with her fierce style of play, Sodium could strengthen its stronghold on the number one spot. THUSC 1-0.

EMFC Magic vs LOSC Extreme
Magic, currently in 3rd but knocking on the door, only has one match, but oh what a match it will be against defending State Champion LOSC Extreme. LOSC will be coming off a game with FC Portland. Some bloggers are predicting a Magic victory. Personally, the way Magic is playing, I think they will give LOSC a run for their money. They are 1-0 against Extreme. (I am going to wimp-out and call it a 1-1 draw)

SSC HotSpur vs ESUFC Arsenal
This game is the hardest for me to call. If HotSpur is 'on' then watch out! Then again, Arsenal has really elevated their play of late and is coming off a tie with powerhouse Rush so they should be riding that wave. Out of the three predictions I read it was a perfect 3-way split. I am going to look at this as consistency winning out. Arsenal 1-0.

It it looking like a very exciting weekend indeed. Great match ups and also some pretty decent weather!

From the stands the Sodium faithful cheer; GO SODIUM!!
