Saturday Results

There is one thing certain in sports; you can't win if you don't show up to play. Thus was the case in todays game against SSC Hotspur. Sodium came out flat. No communication, passing or passion. The results; Sodium took on a motivated SSC squad that took it to them.
Sodium had a couple breaks early that they couldn't convert. They then settled in for the half. The second opened the 0-0 tie with actually more of the same until Dani Brown broke open a header and flew in for the SSC go ahead score! This shot in the face woke up the Sodium team. But not until 4 minutes left in the contest did they actually start to look like the team they are. A couple of position changes brought about a change in chemistry. The girls began to attack the goal. Easton, Lexi, Mac, Hannah, Kelly & Aliyah started to push the ball deep. With about 2 minutes left Sodium had advanced the ball into the 6-yard box. Hannah Lautenbach dropped it back to a charging Mac Kearney who found the far side of the net for the tying score! Sodium found themselves several more times with opportunities but time ran out before Sodium could capitalize. As the fans cheered for Hotspur the Sodium faithful were shaking their heads.

After the game coach Tom said; "We sure make other teams days...", referring to this and the FC game which both ended in ties.

The lady warriors need to learn from todays game. They need to understand that to compete at this level you have to show up every game, every day. No team can be taken for granted or underestimated. If we bring the same lackluster game tomorrow against Rush we will be looking at 4-0 defeat instead of a possible victory.

From the stands at Aloha HS we will be scream'n; GO SODIUM!!
