Futsal - an interesting game

The lady warriors embarked on a new venture this evening a Tualatin Indoor Soccer complex, Futsal.

Smaller field (half a regular indoor field), smaller goals, smaller defalted ball, no throw ins or goalie kicks but all kinds of fast paced, high scoring ACTION!

There are 4 players and a goalie on the field. You only have a slpit second to make a decision, pass or shoot, sprint or drop. It is pretty wild and I recommend that if you haven't ever watched a futsal game (2 x 22 minute halfs with a 1 minute half-time), you come watch Sodium this season. It is pure enjoyment. The girls get a great work out and a chance to work on footskills like never before.

Tonights recap
Sodium split into two teams for the first game, black & green. They played each other to get a good feel for the game.

The second game, it turns out, was played against a hand-picked elite team of ODP, id2 players ranging from '94 to '97 with two local high school varsity players from powerhouse Westview.
The lady warriors came out of the box HOT! At one point they were up as many as 4 goals and we thought the route was on. Sodium had them on their heels as they pressured every inbounds and golie touch which created multiple opportunities. New comers Charelene and Easton from WSA fit right into the Sodium mentality of hard driving physical play as they contributed several goals to the cause. Welcome ladies, I think you will like it here.
But, because they are new to the sport, Sodium may have flamed a little early because the select team came inching back and took a two goal lead late. Just as the buzzer was on the verge of blowing, Charlene put an exclamation point on the evening as she rocketed a shot past the keeper as the game ended and Sodium walked with a 10-9 loss. No need to feel bad about this ladies warriors, for the first time out, you did GREAT!!

See you all Sunday.

GO SODIUM!!

It was indeed a good game Ed.

We look forward to playing you again...hopefully this time with our keeper, who is our 1 Westview Varsity player (not 2, just 1 Westview Varsity players)...she was off preparing for her game tomorrow.

We did, however, have the rest of the team there; a pick-up team consisting of 1 (only 1) id2 player, 1 ODP player, 1 OES player and 1 Westview JV player...and 1 1997.

Like a Classic team, we are somewhat hand-picked, but yes, a wide variance in ages, from, as you said, a few 1994's, a 1995, and a 1997.

Hopefully we get to play you again soon.

P.S And hopefully we have our one sub for the entire game our next game with you. Having 1 for half, and then no sub for the 2nd half in such a fast paced game can be tough. I am sure our girls were a bit envious at times of your 4-5 subs you all had (rested, fresh legs every few minutes).

Was good for them though, your girls are big (some), and certainly aggressive/physical, and with your mix of some ODP/Wa ODP and even your id2 player (not sure who, but heard you had one out there as well), nicely matched in mixed teams versus mixed teams!

Sorry the discrepancy in player qualifications and thanks for clarifying. I was going by what was told to us by the fans. I got it third hand and you know how that goes. For being from the varying backgrounds and teams your team play very, very well together, certainly giving us all we could handle for sure! Nice job clawing back for the win. It showed great composure on their part. Best of luck the remainder of the season. I looked at the schedule and unfortunately we don’t play each other again.
Take care.

It appears the 'P.S' comment might be from a different person.

We actually had 6 girls scheduled but when the rest found that out, they quickly volunteered to stay. They love to play and play to win. I’m not going to stand in there way. Sorry you could only field a small amount of players but am certain if the situation was reversed, you would have done the same thing.
As far as our players credentials go, we had 1 id2 player (second smallest player on the field) she is also one of 2 active ODP players we had. I don’t know about the WSA player’s backgrounds since I was just informed they were on the indoor roster.

As posted, unfortunately we don’t play again, it was a great first outing for our squad and we are always up for a rematch.
