United College Showcase recap

The first 2 days have been not only beautiful but produced some great soccer action for the lady warriors.

The first match pitted Sodium against the always solid Ireland squad. Midway through the second half Irelands talented Jill Farley drew first with a strike to make it 1-0. Moments later Sodium answered the challenge with Dani finding the net to even the match for the duration.

Day was a rematch of the 2011 State Championship finals with Sodium rivals OSSA 95 Blue. As with any match between these two powerhouses play was fast, physical and controlled. Both Bella (OSSA) and Luty made some spectacular saves to keep the match locked at 0-0 at the break. Sodium came energized and found the net on a beautiful textbook cross from Emmy down the right side to a crashing McKayla for the header putting Sodium up 1-0. Later in the second OSSA Answered with score of their own taking advantage of a defensive mis-que. Never give OSSA an inch or they will make you pay. Towards the end of regulation Sodium was applying more pressure as Willy singlehandedly took the feed into the box where she made met with solid defensive pressure. Willy went down but alertly popped up and ripped the ball past the far post for what would prove to be the game winner! A very exciting match!
